DIY - do it yourself

About half the schools that give out tuition aid do their program in-house. There are a lot of good reasons for in-house processing. Most of the concerns a DIY school may have can be overcome. The benefits of outsourcing tuition aid evaluation far outweigh the concerns.

Control

The key to control isn't necessarily keeping the whole process in-house. Rather, the keys to control are 1) Having the ability to make exceptions for families who fall outside normal formulas. 2) Being completely in charge of determining how much each family receives. 3) Having consistent, accurate and reliable information on each family. Most schools have found the transition to a "new" system pretty painless because we're ready to step you through any changes and explain the entire process to you.

Cost

If you are concerned about adding to an already-tight budget, you've come to the right place. The school's annual fee: $35 ($75 1st year). No charge for up to 100 applications. But that's not the real savings. That comes when you give each family an aid award that accurately fits their need, rather than over-awarding some and under-awarding others. The result? The most efficacious use of your limited tuition aid funds.

You're too small

You may think you don't have enough families in need to make it worth the trouble for the third-party service. We have schools that process just a handful of applications every year. They are just as welcomed and receive just as much personal attention as schools that process hundreds of applications. No school is too small.
